Monsoon Magic AMBOLI - Macro Photography Tour (03 Days; # 657)
The Western Ghats, or Sahyadris, is a mountain range that runs along the western coast of India. Along with being a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is also one of the top hotspots of biological diversity in the world. The reptiles and amphibians found in the Western Ghats are diverse and unique. More than 80% of the amphibian species found here are endemic to the region, such as the Malabar Gliding Frog, Amboli Toad, Amboli Bush Frog, and many more. The region is also a hotspot for snakes such as Green Vine Snake, Bronzeback Tree Snake, the endemic Malabar Pit Viper, and many shieldtail species. In fact, the majority of the members of the shieldtail family are endemic to the Sahyadris. The forest patches, streams, and hill slopes of Amboli give you ample opportunities to look for and photograph many of these unique creatures, along with beautiful endemic plants, mammals, and birds that call this area home.
