Pristine Beaches of Andamans (June 04 Days; # 163-A)

The capital of the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar and located on the east coast of the South Andamans, Port Blair is the gateway to the pristine islands. This island town offers a plethora of water-based activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, sea-cruises, and glimpses of history and culture of the region.

Chidiya Tapu is a small village with lush green mangroves and tranquil islands. It is famous for bird watching, sunset views, panoramic scenic beauties, and many colors of oceanic view. The area is filled with around 46 species of birds namely, drongos, hanging parrot, scarlet minivet, emerald dove, long-tailed and red-breasted parakeets, white-bellied sea eagles, and grey-fronted and imperial green pigeons to name a few.

The main attractions here include the Chidiya Tapu Biological Park, Chidiya Tapu Beach, the Sylvan Sands, and the Munda Pahar beaches. There is also a forest guest house at the top of the hillock that provides sunset views as well as views of the islands beyond Chidiya Tapu. The water in this region is alive with bright corals which makes it an excellent site for snorkeling. Swimming can be done here but beware of saltwater crocodiles.

Havelock Island offers one of Asia’s best beaches, famous for its swimming elephants and coral reefs. Famous Radhanagar Beach and Elephant Beach of the Havelock island are dotted with rain-fed forests making them one of the most sought after destinations in India. In addition to the extraordinary ambiance and hypnotizing tranquility, Havelock Island also proffers enthralling adventure activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, and trekking. Equipped with several recreational and other pleasant services for tourists, Havelock Island is a supreme destination for a vacation in nature’s lap.

Neil is a beautiful little island located 37 Kms. to the south of the Andaman Islands. With unexplored coral reefs, brilliant bio-diversity, white sandy beaches and, tropical forest and vegetation, it is one of the most popular tourist hotspots in Andamans. The settlers named the beaches after mythical characters of the epic Ramayana (Bharatpur, Laxmanpur, Sitapur, Ramnagar etc.)

The capital of Andaman and Nicobar islands, Port Blair is famous for one major landmark- The Cellular Jail. In 1897, the British, who then ruled India, laid the foundation stone of the building. Once used as a penitentiary, the place conducts light and sound show. Port Blair is also known for its enchanting sunset views. You could just stand quietly at the seaside and watch the sun go below the horizon turning the sky blood red. The ethereal beauty of unadulterated nature is enough to sweep anyone off their feet.
